Egypt is very safe to visit and the police, tourist police, and army are in prominence wherever you go, giving you a feel of being in secure surroundings. Egypt prides itself on its high safety record for tourists and will do all it can to maintain this.

There are two main options for getting a tourist visa: buying an online e-visa in advance, or buying it upon arrival at the airport, any airport, (or land/sea border crossing) once your arrive in Egypt. It will cost $25 valid for 30 days.

A tourist visa can be extended if required. To do this you have to apply for extension at one of the Passport Offices in Hurghada, Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor or Sharm El-Sheikh. The Fee cost $60 for 3 or 6 months extension.

Many women travel alone and have found that they have been safe. The police, tourist police, and army are always close by, and the Egyptians themselves are generally safe and will try to protect solo travelers. On the whole, it is generally less safe for a solo female traveler in Egypt than in places like Greece, Italy, or Spain.
Although the chances of being confronted are almost negligible, please ensure that you take the same precautions that you would anywhere else and do not be tempted to walk in deserted areas alone: get a taxi back to your abode! You may receive some invitations, which on the whole are innocent, do not accept any of these from strangers.

The currency used in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). ATMs are widely available in cities and even inside tourist establishments such as hotels and malls. Almost all attractions in Egypt now accept credit cards. However, it is a good idea to carry some cash for smaller transactions and tipping.

3. Most mosques require visitors to remove their shoes before entering.

Yes, you can use your credit card. Credit cards are protected against fraud. But a lot of places in Egypt won’t take them so you’ll need cash as well. ATMs are easy to find in Cairo and the main tourist destinations.

Yes, alcohol is available in Egypt, either in better hotels, higher-class restaurants and cafes, pubs, and beer gardens. You will also find off-licenses as well. Please note, though, it is illegal to drink alcohol in the streets in Egypt.

Men should avoid wearing shorts in urban areas. When planning your trips to Egypt, please consider using light, breathable fabrics due to the hot climate.
